City of Aurora and IACOAB (Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board) hosts Art contest at Studio Nafisa on the occasion of Indian Festival of Diwali.

The theme of the competition is “Festival of Lights”. The theme is in alignment with our city being the 'City of Lights' and Diwali too, which is a celebration of good over evil and lights. Participants can draw their inspiration and experience from this festival to create a great Visual Art and be recognized for their creativity and talent.

Deadline is September 28th

  • FREE participation.

  • Prizes awarded to top 3 talents in each age category

  • Certificates to all participants                                                      

  • Art displayed in Diwali Art Show at Metea Valley HS during Diwali celebration on Oct 19th

  • ​2 entries will be displayed in 'Winter Garden of Youth Art' show at Aurora Public Art Commission Gallery  

  • Participants may bring a sample art to get inspiration from 

  • Each participant will get a max. time of 3 hours. 

Drawing - Supplies are provided.

                   

  • 11"X14" mixed media paper will be provided for drawing and sketching. Pencils, crayons, markers, color pencils will be available. If you prefer you may bring your own materials.

Painting - Participants must bring their own painting supplies.

  • Painters must bring their own paper with size not to exceed 11"X15"                                                     

Judging criteria will be emailed prior to the contest.

Participants are requested to bring a food can to donate to the local food pantry.
